Opening possibilities: SLIDING
If you are planning on choosing sliding windows for your home, you should take into account that there are several types with different functionalities.
The sliding opening windows are characterised by having one or more sashes sliding on horizontal guides and always in the same plane.
Straight-line sliding | The sashes slide in the same area as the window itself through the use of rollers in its lower frame. Straight-line sliding windows have the advantage that they don’t interfere with the surrounding space. However, their performance is worse than that of hinged windows, due to their locking systems and their water-tightness.
Lift&slide | Like the straight line sliding windows, the Lift & Slide system moves on a rail located in the lower frame of the window. Therefore, when opened, it doesn’t invade the surrounding space. Unlike the straight-line sliding windows, it uses specific hardware that allows a minimal lifting of the sash in the opening position, facilitating the movement of the sash upon the rails; this includes sashes of large dimensions and weights. Besides, it uses a system of gaskets that provide great water-tightness when in its locked position. With this system, it is possible to manufacture sashes of large dimensions.
Pocket solution | With this type of sliding system, the sashes are completely hidden in a “pocket” in the wall during the opening process, which allows us to have an entirely free space thanks to this concealment of the sashes. |
