Key points about thermal insulation in PVC windows
Windows can help you significantly reduce energy consumption at home. If you choose a high thermal performance window, you will save on heating and air conditioning and improve the comfort of your home.
The lower the thermal transmittance of the window, the higher its insulation capacity.
The window separates the outside and the inside of a house. Therefore, we will find that the temperatures inside and outside of the house are different. The thermal transmittance value will indicate the amount of cold or heat that comes in through the window. The lower the value, the better the thermal insulation.
Factors to keep in mind (PVC)
DEPTH OF THE FRAME | ↑ Number of chambers = ↑ Thermal insulation CORTIZO PVC windows are manufactured with five and six chamber profiles. |
ISOLATING FOAMS / REINFORCEMENTS WITH THERMAL BREAK | In PVC profiles, steel reinforcements are introduced to increase the rigidity of the window. This reinforcement does not connect the interior and exterior, so the cold and heat transfer through it is minimum. However, if we remove or modify it by introducing a thermal break, we will further increase the thermal performance of the window. This allows us to achieve the highest levels of thermal insulation, and thus obtain the PassivHaus certification. If we remove the reinforcement, the remaining gaps can be filled with isolating foams which will reinforce the barrier against cold and heat. This option is not possible for every situation and it depends on several factors, such as the directions and the movements of the sashes. |
